The Steppe Gold team is very proud of the 2020 development of our Environmental Management Plan (EMP), and our 2021 Implementation Reporting efforts.

Our EMP was developed with approval from all levels of government, to ensure compliance with all Government standards & requirements, and included consultation with stakeholders and local, impacted communities.

Our comprehensive EMP is comprised of numerous, critical sub-sections, including our: Biodiversity Offset Plan, Chemical Risk Management Plan, the Historic and Cultural Heritage Preservation Plan, and the Action Plan to Mitigate Adverse Impacts.

An example of what was achieved in each of our sub-plans: Through our Action Plan to Mitigate Adverse Impacts, 26 potential negative impacts on environmental components were identified. This led to a 57-item action plan to mitigate against these risks. By the end of 2021, 48 actions have already been completed and 4 are still in progress. The 5 outstanding items from this plan are directly attributed to pandemic-related delays.

We are delighted that the Mongolian Government has recognized our efforts with a 92.9% score on the implementation of STGO’s Environmental Management Plan.
